*If you have already completed this process for a sibling that is attending another APS school then you should already be setup for all of your children.
Attention parents of students interested in trying out for the James Monroe basketball teams:
All participants trying out for basketball must have a physical and submit a completed APS physical form to the coaches prior to participating in tryouts. The APS physical form must be dated on or after April 1st, 2014. Physical exams and paperwork from last school year will not be accepted for this school year. The APS physical form can be printed from the school website following the link at jamesmonroe.aps.edu, under the Our School tab or aps.edu/athletics. Students must have a 2.0 GPA based on the first nine weeks grades in order to make the team.
Tryouts dates (must be present for all days listed for grade level):
“B” team for boys and girls
6th grade - October 22nd and 23rd from 3:05 till 5:15.
7th grade - October 20th, 21st and 22nd from 3:05 till 5:15.
“A” team for boys and girls
8th grade - October 20th and 21st from 3:05 till 5:15
“B” team (6th and 7th grade boys and girls) - November 4th through December 11th.
“A” team (7th and 8th grade boys and girls) – January 13th, 2015 through February 28th, 2015.
Please note, it is always recommended students visit their primary health care provider for a physical. In the event this isn’t an option, below is an organization that may be able to assist students seeking a physical exam. Please note, the information being provided is a courtesy. While physicals are required to participate, students are not required to obtain their physicals from the medical facility listed below. It is recommended to the call number below and get price and details. Must use APS physical form.
