Important Registration Information

It’s already that time of year to start thinking about getting students registered for the 2019-2020 school year. Here are a few things to remember and prepare for.

  • If you have not completed the Online Registration process, please do so as soon as possible. We cannot complete your registration without this step. You can find the link on the APS website or go straight to to get started.
  • Registration for all returning 7th and 8th grade students and 6th grade students that attended our feeder elementary schools (Sunset View, Sierra Vista, Seven Bar or Petroglyph) and live in the James Monroe attendance area, will be on Tuesday, August 6th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • We will have an additional registration on Wednesday, August 7th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for those who cannot make it during the day. 
  • Any new registrations will take place on July 31st from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. If you are unsure about where your child is attending Middle School, please go to

Things to Bring for registration:

Information to Bring with you to JMMS registration. Even if you have UPLOADED documents to the system, please bring them with you. There has been great difficulty seeing those documents and we don’t want to delay completing your registration.

  • Immunization Record, up-to-date, which must include TDAP within the last 5 years      
  • Proof of Address – student and parent/legal guardian must live in JMMS attendance boundaries (visit  to verify assigned school for residence address)
  • Current PNM Utility Bill with parent/legal guardian name and physical street address on it (water, cable, phone bills, etc. do not apply); OR
  • Current Rental Agreement (with parent/legal guardian name, student name and physical street address on it); OR
  • Current Purchase Agreement (with parent/legal guardian name and physical street address on it)
  • Copies of IEP, special program/course placement, 504 ONLY IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE APS.
  • Driver License – of parent/legal guardian who is enrolling student.
  • Approved transfer letter

We will have 3 different registration entrances to help alleviate congestion at the main entrance. Registration will be held in the classrooms. Please pay attention to signs posted.

6th Grade parents and students will enter using the Main Front door entrance.

7th Grade parents and students will enter using the 7th grade entrance in the Commons.

8th Grade parents and students will enter using the 8th grade entrance in the Commons.

Students will be having their picture taken for their student ID’s so please bring your child to registration! There is no cost for the ID and student lanyard. However, if they lose their either, there will be a replacement fee.

We will also be selling PE uniforms in the GYM. The cost is $20.00. If students have a PE uniform from the previous year that is in good condition, you could continue to use it.

There will be JMMS SPIRIT WEAR available for purchase. Please bring exact change as we have limited ability to give out change. Students can wear spirit shirts on Friday’s and Hoodies can be worn at anytime.

Shirts: $5.00 and $10.00

Hoodies: $20.00
